Who is packing your parachute?
Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association is under the umbrella of NAHB – National Association of Home Builders, the largest Builder, Remodeler and Supplier (Associates) Association in the world. We are not like other associations; we are a three-tiered association – Local, State and National.
When packing your parachute, remember that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, because Metro is there to help you. Metro provides opportunities through our networking events which enables you to meet the right people in the industry and drive your business successfully. We also provide educational opportunities and industry related seminars to help you learn the nuances of the industry as well as earn NAHB professional designations. These designations, and the knowledge gained, can translate into letting your prospective clients and industry partners know that you are a credible contractor or supplier. Personally, over the years, I have taken many NAHB courses and have earned 6 different NAHB professional designations. These are Certified Graduate Builder and Remodeler, Green Professional, Graduate Master Builder and Remodeler and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist. These credentials have been key to my personal growth and to the success of my business. Believe me, if I can earn these, so can you!
So, are you thinking that you made the decision to join Metro, and you attended meetings, and you participated in events yet you still don’t feel part of the group? As your President for 2016, I am challenging you to step outside of your comfort zone and get more involved. I assure you….you won’t regret it. A vital organization such as ours needs all of you more than you know. Please get involved this year. Come sit at my table at the next meeting you attend. This year, at every meeting, I also plan to have a Metro Board member sit at each table and, from their own experience, share what will help you get the most from your membership as well as listen carefully to your concerns and suggestions. We want to know what will make this Association provide value to you. Without your input, we are just another association. We want to be the BEST Association but need your involvement to make that happen.
2016 is going to be the year that we build a team together and have fun. There is strength in numbers and together we can accomplish great things. Let us open the parachute together!
I wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2016.
