Metro members will be heading to Atlantic City next month for the Atlantic Builders Conference. You should be there.
Have you ever heard the adage, “Any road will lead you to NOWHERE”? I have heard it a lot in our NAHB classes. Our education theme always centers on having a plan and diligently executing it. Look at the map below. While nobody would intentionally follow such a twisted path, our lack of planning sometimes sends us very far afield.
What road you take to Atlantic City will make all the difference. Some early thought on what you want to get out of your time there will help insure success. Some come to passively attend seminars. Others come to fill bags of tchotchkes, or to hit a few of the social events.
My suggestion is to step back and look at what we hold most dear in the organization and embrace it. Relationships are the core of the homebuilding industry. It IS who you know, who trusts you and will give you credit, who will help with product solutions, and who will have your back when a warranty issue comes up.
Come to ABC with a plan to meet three new vendors, two new service professionals, gather five new facts from an expert, and to spend time getting to know a peer member better. There are plenty of opportunities for all of this.
Spending your time building new relationships and learning new ideas will return great dividends on the small investment of time at ABC. See you there.
